What to expect
Dogs are welcome on Brean Beach all year round and well behaved dogs can be off lead on the beach. Dogs should remain under control, and owners must clean up after them. If walking up Brean Down, dogs should be kept on a short lead due to steep cliff edges, livestock and ground nesting birds.Brean Down Cafe (dogs welcome inside downstairs and outside, water bowls provided) · The Brean Down Inn (dog friendly pub).

Parking and accessibility
You can drive onto the beach when gates are open. Summer access normally 10am–6pm, tide permitting. Beach parking is free from 1 July 2026 as part of the current scheme.
Dog and safety warnings
Dogs should be kept on a short lead on Brean Down due to steep cliff edges, livestock and wildlife. Avoid walking dogs onto exposed mudflats at low tide as areas of deep sinking mud can occur. Be aware of the incoming tide, which can move quickly across the beach. Never drive or walk onto exposed mud flats. At low tide the sea can be extremely distant. Cars use the beach, so dogs need watching near the vehicle area.
