Review Guidelines

Honest experiences help dogs and their people arrive with confidence. These guidelines keep Sniffed Out reviews useful, trustworthy and safe.

01

Share your own visit

Review a place you personally visited. Choose the date you went and describe what you experienced on that visit—not rumours, somebody else’s story or a general impression from online information.

02

Rate what you experienced

Use the paw ratings honestly. Consider the overall dog welcome, how staff treated you and your dog, whether the listed facilities were available, and whether you would return. A low rating is allowed when it reflects a genuine experience.

03

Help the next dog owner

Useful details might include where dogs could sit, whether water was offered, busy or quiet times, access restrictions, charges, nearby walks, enclosed areas, or anything you wish you had known before arriving.

04

Be factual and fair

Separate what happened from what you assumed. Describe actions and conditions rather than attacking somebody’s character. If something is uncertain, say so. Policies and facilities can change, so include the visit date.

05

Keep it respectful

We do not allow abuse, personal attacks, discriminatory language, threats, harassment or graphic content. Criticism can be firm, specific and honest without being cruel.

06

Protect private information

Do not post home addresses, personal phone numbers, private email addresses, payment details, medical information, booking references or other confidential information. Avoid naming private individuals when their identity is not necessary to understand the visit.

07

Write independently

Do not review your own business, an employer, a competitor, or a place where a personal or commercial relationship could affect your opinion. Do not accept money, gifts, discounts or other rewards in exchange for a review or its removal.

08

Post once per visit

Each review should cover one genuine visit and use your own words. Do not submit duplicates, copied material, advertising, referral links, irrelevant campaigning or repeated content from multiple accounts.

Moderation and Review Resolution

What happens after you submit

Reviews may be checked for authenticity, relevance, duplication and compliance with these guidelines before publication. Only approved reviews contribute to community levels and venue ratings.

Community members can report content that may break these rules. Claimed venues can reply publicly and can open Review Resolution with a private explanation when a review raises a genuine dispute.

Review Resolution can lead to clarification, an edit, a venue response, an outdated marker, temporary hiding during a serious investigation, or removal for a policy violation. One appeal is available and must be considered by a different moderator.

Good writing has many forms

We value useful detail and honest experience—not perfect spelling or grammar. Review quality is not judged in a way that disadvantages people with dyslexia, disabilities or English as an additional language.
