A free, outdoor and dog-friendly street-food festival with independent traders, drinks, music and entertainment. It runs Thursday to Saturday from 10am to 7pm and Sunday from 10am to 5pm. Dogs are welcome, but this is a busy city-centre event rather than a dedicated dog social, so leads and consideration for crowds are essential.

Run or support the Cardiff Half Marathon while raising funds for rescue dogs at Cardiff Dogs Home. The Rescue Hotel has a cheer squad on Penarth Road, with some resident dogs expected to join them. Race participation requires a confirmed place and fundraising arrangements. Pet dogs do not run the half-marathon course.

A four-day programme of volunteer-led walks reached by rail, with easy, moderate and mountainous choices. Dogs are allowed only on specifically identified urban walks that do not involve group train travel; they are not permitted on the rural walks. Goodwood’s two-day celebration of dogs, with more than 50 activities included in admission, demonstrations, expert advice, woodland walks, have-a-go activities and the opening breed parade.
